The Artist
Elizabeth Durso (born 1986) grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, graduated from the School of the Art Institute, and has been working in the visual art, design, and fashion industries for over two decades. You can find her sharing her love of creative expression around the world in galleries, businesses, and boutiques. She also leads artistic teams and works as a professional photographer, throughout the United States, European Union, and Switzerland.
The Process
Inspired by minimalism, simplicity, and spontaneity, the artist uses camera equipment, found materials, and natural light to create imagery. She captures candid photographs, in raw files, and prefers limited post production processes. Elizabeth often combines these snapshots with curated content and delicate drawings into dreamlike collages. She also incorporates video and sound into her projects to stimulate new sensations and sentiments.
The Art
Elizabeth produces contemporary photographs, drawings, and collages featuring unaffected patterns, the human form, and the natural world. Her work reveals themes of instinct, beauty, power, and politics. She creates both aesthetically pleasing and thought provoking images. Each project is an organic and continuous visual story; every piece is informed by the last and integrated into the next, concluding in a layered visual representation of creative communication.
